Future of Specialist Practice Qualifications in district nursing for band 6 leadership roles

This study used an exploratory mixed-methods design with the Delphi technique, which involves a group communication process that aims to predict future events or occurrences (Ulschak, 1983; Turoff and Hiltz, 1996; Ludwig, 1997). As an iterative process, the Delphi technique is designed to combine expert opinion to gain group consensus (Lynn et al, 1998). Establishing what constitutes ‘expert opinion’ is often the cause of controversy with the technique.
